The CSTV Collegiate Nationals will be held in Boulder, Colorado on May 16-18th. We apologize for any inconvenience, but the tournament is going to have a lot more put into it and the time was necessary. We look forward to seeing all the invited teams at the event. Thank you and start getting excited for the best tournament in collegiate wakeboarding. Info on lodging and schedules will be sent out shortly. Any questions please feel free to contact myself or your regional director. USA Wakeboard Collegiate cordially invites you to join us at the third annual Collegiate Wakeboard Nationals in Boulder, Colorado on May 16-18. If your school is interested in attending please let us know ASAP. This tournament is part of a large event called The Collegiate Nationals, put on by College Sports Television (CSTV), a division of CBS. For more information, go to www.cstv.com or www.thecollegiatenationals.com. Updates will be posted on www.CollegeWakeboard.com . We strongly urge you to print this e-mail for your records.
The teams that have been invited to compete are:
Eastern Teams 1. University of Kentucky 2. UNC - Wilmington Virginia Tech
Midwest Teams University of Minnesota UW-Milwaukee
Southeastern Teams University of Central Florida University of Florida Kennesaw State University
Western Teams 1. Sacramento State 2. Chico State 3. U.C. Davis
Southern Teams Texas A&M University of Texas LA Tech
Wildcard Teams Rollins College Arizona State
This tournament will be run in an innovative head-to-head format. Each team will be seeded and paired up against another team. Each team is allowed 4 male wakeboarders, 2 female wakeboard, and 1 wakeskater (although a wakeboard division rider will be allowed to ride in the wakeskate division). Attached is an entry form to fill out for seeding your own riders. Please rank them starting with your best rider in each category. Your seeding will be used to determine which riders will go head-to-head against each other. Ultimately, the team with at least 4 wins out of the 7 match ups will win the head-to-head and advance to the next round. A new addition this year will be an individual tournament at the end of the event. To qualify a rider has to meet the qualifications while riding during the qualifying rounds. If there is any confusion about this, please feel free to contact me. Please also note that the attached entry form must be turned in by February 25th.
The tournament will run as follows (times subject to change): Friday, May 16: Qualifying
Saturday, May 17: Quarter Finals Semi Finals
Sunday, May 18: Finals Individual Tournament Awards Ceremony
Throughout the day we will provide an athlete lounge onsite. Other sports will also be in the area. Every night there will be an athlete event of some kind. A few other potential activities that have been discussed include an athlete cookout with several of the other sports involved in the tournament and a wakeboard specific party Saturday night. As well as a music festival. Lodging details will be posted and emailed shortly (we will be offered a deal staying on campus at UC-Boulder). We need to know ASAP if you school WILL or WILL NOT attend. If your school CANNOT, this information is VERY important as we must invite another school and allow them time to book hotel rooms and travel reservations. Please also keep in mind that bringing a full team is to your advantage incomplete teams will have to sacrifice head-to-head points towards advancing. Therefore, if your school only brings 3 riders it is highly probably that you will not advance, as it takes at least 4 wins to go on. This is an extremely fun and exciting tournament and we hope you will join us. Also, significant expense grants will be issued to teams to help support your travels. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact anyone on the USA Wakeboard or Collegiate Wakeboard Association boards. Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,
Chris Beckman Collegiate Wakeboard Association Executive Director 407-620-0132
